Josué Berger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Váldson Ortiz in the 32nd minute of the match. David Massa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Celsinho Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Zé Paulo Goiano fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ribeirão Preto FC's protests and gave Zé Paulo Goiano a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ribeirão Preto FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Ricardinho Neto made the kick off in the second half. Duarte Diniz charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Duarte Diniz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Duarte Diniz kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match.
