But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cléber Baiano couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Mengo Noite SC booed when Lions FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fellipe Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Gustavo Barreto fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lions FC's protests and gave Gustavo Barreto a yellow card for diving instead. Gustavo Barreto hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After 9 minutes of play, Mengo Noite SC's Amauri da Silveira made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruy Vides was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ruy Vides showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amauri da Silveira in the 12th minute of the match. Ruy Vides took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cléber Baiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Cléber Baiano sped through Lions FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ruy Vides. Amauri da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Ruy Vides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ruy Vides didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cléber Baiano went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Cléber Baiano scored 0-4 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ruy Vides, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cléber Baiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Amauri da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Ruy Vides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amauri da Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruy Vides having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cléber Baiano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cléber Baiano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mengo Noite SC's Wilson Lopez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Válter Salles in the 63rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cléber Baiano in the 65th minute of play forced Lions FC's goalkeeper Ruy Vides to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lions FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when Cléber Baiano scored to the left of an out of position Ruy Vides, making the score, 0-5. Lions FC's Ruy Vides played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cléber Baiano in the 74th minute of play. In the 75th minute Cléber Baiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruy Vides saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilson Lopez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fellipe Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Amauri da Silveira in the 88thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ruy Vides, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rafa Diniz during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Lions FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Rafa Diniz hit a great ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mengo Noite SC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
