In the 7th match minute, Ribeirão Preto FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moisés de Moraes to maneuver through the defense. 11 minutes into the game, Giovani Pinheiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lions FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ribeirão Preto FC the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Lions FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 10th minute. Penalty! Duarte Diniz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 19 minutes, Ruy Vides successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ribeirão Preto FC's David Massa got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Josué Berger came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Lions FC's Gustavo Barreto. But to his dismay, Gustavo Barreto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. David Massa struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Ruy Vides didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ribeirão Preto FC. David Massa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 35th minute, Ribeirão Preto FC's Ricardinho Neto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ruy Vides. Ruy Vides yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when David Massa got free with Ruy Vides in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. David Massa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fellipe Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Fellipe Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lions FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fellipe Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Josué Berger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fellipe Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Josué Berger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fellipe Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Ricardinho Neto scored 3-1 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ruy Vides, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lions FC were furious when Válter Salles was red carded, 58 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 58th minute of the game. One of Lions FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ribeirão Preto FC:s goal. Ruy Vides didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from David Massa went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Lions FC's Giovani Pinheiro got a free kick in the 69th minute. Lions FC's Ruy Vides played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Massa in the 70th minute of play. Ruy Vides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardinho Neto in the 71st minute of play. Ruy Vides showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardinho Neto, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. 75 minutes into the game, Ricardinho Neto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-1. Ruy Vides was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ruy Vides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardinho Neto in the 78th minute of play. Gustavo Barreto fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 81st minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. If Fellipe Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fellipe Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Josué Berger having to interfere. Fellipe Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute David Massa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruy Vides saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
