Guga Alves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sandro Reis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Elano Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hortêncio Amorim having to interfere. Samuel Leme hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Matheus Linhares during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 24th minute Emanuel Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hortêncio Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clube Atlético Marrento's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
