José Carlos Moreno's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Abel Amorim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute José Carlos Moreno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Carlos Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Amorim having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Madridista FC's zone, Rômulo Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abel Amorim came out of the goal and Rômulo Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rômulo Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Amorim having to interfere. José Carlos Moreno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sílvio Luiz Pombal to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Carlos Moreno in the 54th minute of play forced Madridista FC's goalkeeper Abel Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
