In the 2nd match minute, Goytacaz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jefferson Matos to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Goytacaz FC getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Doni Peres hit a great ball. After 12 played minutes EC Boca do Rio got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Velloso. With a little luck, EC Boca do Rio's Cafu Baptista got control of the ball when Fiori Veiga tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Miguel Donatello fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EC Boca do Rio's protests and gave Miguel Donatello a yellow card for diving instead. 21 minutes into the game, Durval Falcão was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. EC Boca do Rio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Goytacaz FC the free kick. Durval Falcão kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Fiori Veiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cafu Baptista having to interfere. Cafu Baptista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renan Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Fiori Veiga came free with the goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Cafu Baptista could save by the left post. After 30 played minutes EC Boca do Rio got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Velloso. Paulo Velloso's late challenge caught a Goytacaz FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulo Velloso helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to EC Boca do Rio getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Paulo Velloso hit a great ball. After some careless play in the EC Boca do Rio defense, Renan Brito kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cafu Baptista. The EC Boca do Rio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cafu Baptista should have stopped the shot. After 41 played minutes Goytacaz FC got a freekick which was hit by Jonas Coutinho. Fiori Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

In the 53rd minute, Renan Brito ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cafu Baptista was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Cafu Baptista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fiori Veiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Jonathan Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of EC Boca do Rio booed when Goytacaz FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Goytacaz FC's Laércio de Souza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Goytacaz FC from getting a goal against them. Cafu Baptista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Renan Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Renan Brito's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cafu Baptista was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. Paulo Velloso hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. EC Boca do Rio's Cafu Baptista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fiori Veiga in the 82nd minute of play. Roger Souto who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 84thth minute tested the skills of Laércio de Souza when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Cafu Baptista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fiori Veiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cafu Baptista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renan Brito in the 92nd minute of the match. Fiori Veiga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 96 minutes into the match, Goytacaz FC's Fiori Veiga sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cafu Baptista narrowly saved just below the crossbar. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Goytacaz FC had played much better football throughout.
