Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Renan Brito started the match with the kick off. Ernani Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Laércio de Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Osvaldo Maia in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Laércio de Souza saved Goytacaz FC from getting behind. In the 15th minute, Jonas Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Osvaldo Maia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aroeirinha's supporters rose to their feet, but Osvaldo Maia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Laércio de Souza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Aroeirinha's zone, Jonas Coutinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Renato Mendes came out of the goal and Jonas Coutinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulo Renato Mendes made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Fiori Veiga sent off a good shot on target. 25 minutes into the match, Goytacaz FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ernani Teixeira came free, but Laércio de Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Renan Brito recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 31stth minute of the game Osvaldo Maia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Goytacaz FC's Laércio de Souza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 34th minute of the match Silas Cunha shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulo Renato Mendes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Osvaldo Maia took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Laércio de Souza. Laércio de Souza dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Paulo Renato Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Renan Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Osvaldo Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Ernani Teixeira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Laércio de Souza having to make a save. If Osvaldo Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 70th minute by Ernani Teixeira got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 73rd match minute, Aroeirinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remo Rossi to maneuver through the defense. In the 76th minute of the match Jefferson Matos sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulo Renato Mendes skillfully saved the ball. Paulo Renato Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renan Brito in the 79th minute of the match. Aroeirinha's Paulo Renato Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renan Brito in the 81st minute of play. 83 minutes into the game, Goytacaz FC's Renan Brito nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Renato Mendes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Goytacaz FC's Laércio de Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernani Teixeira in the 90th minute of play. Renan Brito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Renato Mendes having to interfere. Fiori Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
