The VILA NOVA F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Valdir Xavier should have stopped the shot. Valdir Xavier stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Júlio Quirino's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. 43 minutes into the match, VILA NOVA F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Quirino came free, but Valdir Xavier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valdir Xavier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Quirino, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The wind increased when Dráuzio de Andrade made the kick off in the second half. Júlio Quirino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Reinaldo Ortiz took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valdir Xavier. Valdir Xavier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Júlio Quirino in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Valdir Xavier saved VILA NOVA F.C. from getting behind. Gernando Soeiro hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute, Júlio Quirino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 88th minute, Erik Carioca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 92nd minute, Vágner Salgado left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mulambo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. The Mulambo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mulambo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
