In the 4thth minute of the game Ezequiel Loyola who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but EXCELSIOR FC's Mané Figueiredo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 10 played minutes Cauarru EC got a freekick which was hit by Diguinho Castro. Cauã Aparecido kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After having played for 17 minutes, Ezequiel Loyola managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cauarru EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ezequiel Loyola was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Gilmar Fonseca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mané Figueiredo was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind EXCELSIOR FC's goalkeeper Mané Figueiredo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, EXCELSIOR FC's Jairo Chaves got a free kick in the 30th minute. After having played for 33 minutes, Ezequiel Loyola managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cauarru EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ezequiel Loyola was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ezequiel Loyola in the 46th minute of play forced EXCELSIOR FC's goalkeeper Mané Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mané Figueiredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ezequiel Loyola in the 48th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ezequiel Loyola to make the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Cauarru EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ediberto Tróia to maneuver through the defense. In the 54th minute EXCELSIOR FC were awarded a corner. Zé Queiroz went to the cornerflag to take it. Gilmar Fonseca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mané Figueiredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ezequiel Loyola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ezequiel Loyola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Mané Figueiredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Celsinho Torres hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in EXCELSIOR FC's zone, Ezequiel Loyola stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mané Figueiredo came out of the goal and Ezequiel Loyola tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 74 played minutes Cauarru EC got a freekick which was hit by Diguinho Castro. In the 75th minute, Zé Queiroz sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Cauarru EC's Romário Trevisan didn't even have to move. If Ezequiel Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilmar Fonseca hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Ezequiel Loyola received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mané Figueiredo came out and tried to block the shot, but Ezequiel Loyola slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 89th minute. In the 97th minute the ball was on its way in behind EXCELSIOR FC's goalkeeper Mané Figueiredo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Cauarru EC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than EXCELSIOR FC.
