The audience thought a goal was coming when Franklin Mello got free with Murillo Barreto in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Humberto Simões in the 13th minute of play forced Joffily EC's goalkeeper Murillo Barreto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute Caio Urbano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mané Figueiredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Joffily EC's goalkeeper Murillo Barreto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Caio Urbano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Mané Figueiredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Humberto Simões couldn't finish the play. Mané Figueiredo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Caio Urbano's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. A collision led to EXCELSIOR FC getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Cauã Aparecido hit a great ball. 82 minutes into the match, Joffily EC's Vítor Lucas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mané Figueiredo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Franklin Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Franklin Mello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murillo Barreto having to interfere. Murillo Barreto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Humberto Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Joffily EC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Joffily EC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
