But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Durval Lucas couldn't finish the play. Durval Lucas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 13th minute, Durval Lucas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Carlos Eduardo Recife had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Eduardo Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Meira having to interfere. Leopoldo Meira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Eduardo Recife's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Carlos Eduardo Recife sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cícero Pires recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Carlos Eduardo Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Meira having to interfere. Cícero Pires might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leopoldo Meira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cícero Pires ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nico Queiroz during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Rianopolis getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Nico Queiroz hit a great ball. André Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Claudinei Quirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when André Rosa made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Rianopolis booed when Fronteiro SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arlindo Marquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Eduardo Recife's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Leopoldo Meira firmly grabbed it by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edinho Penha during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 60 played minutes Fronteiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Edinho Penha. Carlos Eduardo Recife sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rianopolis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Eduardo Recife was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Fronteiro SC's zone, Carlos Eduardo Recife stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leopoldo Meira came out of the goal and Carlos Eduardo Recife tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 80th minute, Nico Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nico Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rianopolis's Nico Queiroz got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 86th minute, Carlos Eduardo Recife made a precise shot to the right of Leopoldo Meira. Fronteiro SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After having played for 90 minutes, Cícero Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
