Claudinho Toscano's late challenge caught a Doguinhos Antifascistas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudinho Toscano helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Unidade Popular getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Claudinho Toscano hit a great ball. With his leg Tomás Carvalho managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when Doguinhos Antifascistas's Caetano Cruz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 8 minutes, Osvaldo Soares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Unidade Popular and the Doguinhos Antifascistas players grew even worse after the yellow card. Osvaldo Soares kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. The long shot by Arnaldo Urbano in the 9th minute really tested Tomás Carvalho's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. If Edvaldo Tasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caetano Cruz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tomás Carvalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Tomás Carvalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edvaldo Tasso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Doguinhos Antifascistas booed when Unidade Popular was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erivaldo da Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Doguinhos Antifascistas's zone, Lenílson Guerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hortêncio Silva came out of the goal and Lenílson Guerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Unidade Popular getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Lenílson Guerra hit a great ball. In the 25th minute, Arnaldo Urbano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lenílson Guerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Hortêncio Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Clóvis Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomás Carvalho made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Caetano Cruz sent off a good shot on target. 39 minutes into the match, Caetano Cruz dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tomás Carvalho, 1-0. The throw-in from César Moreira in the 46th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Doguinhos Antifascistas's Lino Palmeira. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Caetano Cruz was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Lenílson Guerra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Unidade Popular's supporters rose to their feet, but Lenílson Guerra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hortêncio Silva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tomás Carvalho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edvaldo Tasso went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Tomás Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edvaldo Tasso in the 60th minute of play. Edvaldo Tasso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 61st match minute, Unidade Popular was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinho Toscano to maneuver through the defense. Tomás Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edvaldo Tasso, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. 69 minutes into the match, Luiz Eduardo Félix had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tomás Carvalho. Unidade Popular's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Eduardo Félix was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Edvaldo Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomás Carvalho having to interfere. Caetano Cruz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Unidade Popular defense, Caetano Cruz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tomás Carvalho. The Unidade Popular fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tomás Carvalho should have stopped the shot. Tomás Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caetano Cruz in the 83rd minute of play. 89 minutes into the game, Doguinhos Antifascistas's Edvaldo Tasso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tomás Carvalho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. 94 minutes into the match, Unidade Popular's goal looked a bit too open when Caetano Cruz came free, but Tomás Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Doguinhos Antifascistas's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
