Arnaldo França stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Charles Mandrak's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Zé Barral hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Santa Cruz FC PE's Luiz Guilherme Vander couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Golden Star FC. If Anselmo Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Golden Star FC's Elói Varela in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Santa Cruz FC PE's goalie prevented a goal. Zé Barral kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Anselmo Vianna struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Arnaldo França didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santa Cruz FC PE. Arnaldo França was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Charles Mandrak showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 36 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The supporters of Golden Star FC booed when Santa Cruz FC PE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luciano Breckenfeld didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 59 minutes, Luciano Breckenfeld mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santa Cruz FC PE and the Golden Star FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Charles Mandrak in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnaldo França saved Golden Star FC from getting behind. Willian Cardozo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Novaes having to interfere. Elói Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Jonathan Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Novaes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Willian Cardozo in the 80th minute of play. With a little luck, Santa Cruz FC PE's Jonathan Novaes got control of the ball when Willian Cardozo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Charles Mandrak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arnaldo França was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Golden Star FC's zone, Anselmo Vianna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anselmo Vianna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnaldo França read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. If Charles Mandrak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Santa Cruz FC PE fans cheered their team off the field, for while Golden Star FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
