After a defensive mix-up in Maracassume's zone, Perivaldo Rossi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clemente Moreira came out of the goal and Perivaldo Rossi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Durvalino Paulista fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Furtados FC's protests and gave Durvalino Paulista a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Furtados FC's Durvalino Paulista got a free kick in the 36th minute. Adilson Koehler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clemente Moreira having to interfere.
