In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Desportivo's goalkeeper Kaká Furlan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Chaves in the 27th minute of play forced Desportivo's goalkeeper Kaká Furlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th match minute, C. Atletico Pernabucano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moisés Prestes to maneuver through the defense. The score was now 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Rodrigo Lago made the kick off in the second half. In the 63rd minute Rodrigo Lago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hernani Veiga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Palmeira in the 66th minute of play forced Desportivo's goalkeeper Kaká Furlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Duarte Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jacinto Chaves in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kaká Furlan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Renatinho Diniz hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match.
