Gilvan Silva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giuseppe de Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes into the match, Palestra de Tomini's goal looked a bit too open when Giuseppe de Almeida came free, but Gilvan Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 47 minutes into the match, Pedro Luís Meira dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Pedro Paulo Torres, 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
