Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Augusto Messias to make the kick off. London do Sertão's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hortêncio da Fonseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 84 minutes into the match, Capinzal's José Augusto Messias sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guga Peixoto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 87th minute José Augusto Messias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guga Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erivaldo Santana could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Guga Peixoto made a huge save. Erivaldo Santana who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Guga Peixoto when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Guga Peixoto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Augusto Messias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
