Cipriano Tepedino charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cipriano Tepedino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Palestra de Tomini booed when Capinzal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cipriano Tepedino didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Vítor Lara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Léo de Andrade made a huge save. 11 minutes into the game, Capinzal's Evaristo Siqueira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gilvan Silva made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Léo de Andrade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dário Baptista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erivaldo Santana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Gilvan Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dário Baptista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gilvan Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erivaldo Santana in the 28th minute of play. A collision led to Palestra de Tomini getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Tiago de Lara hit a great ball. Capinzal's Erivaldo Santana got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, José Augusto Messias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Capinzal's supporters rose to their feet, but José Augusto Messias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilvan Silva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 36thth minute of the game José Augusto Messias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palestra de Tomini's Gilvan Silva was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Palestra de Tomini's goal looked a bit too open when José Augusto Messias came free, but Gilvan Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erivaldo Santana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Gilvan Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Palestra de Tomini players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Capinzal were winning 0-1.

If José Vítor Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 63rd minute José Vítor Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Léo de Andrade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 64 played minutes Capinzal got a freekick which was hit by Cipriano Tepedino. After having played for 68 minutes, Erivaldo Santana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Capinzal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erivaldo Santana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 76 minutes into the game, Abelardo Proença was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Capinzal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palestra de Tomini the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 75th minute of the game. One of Capinzal:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Palestra de Tomini:s goal. The audience was convinced that José Vítor Lara's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Léo de Andrade was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. José Vítor Lara struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Léo de Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palestra de Tomini. When Erivaldo Santana came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Capinzal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erivaldo Santana couldn't finish the play. Jarbas Esteves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Capinzal's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
