With an all-out effort, Grêmio F.C's Tarcisio Vargas threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Leopoldo Soeiro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Romeu Pombal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 42 played minutes Grêmio F.C got a freekick which was hit by Natanael Branco. If Carlos Koehler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Koehler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Romeu Pombal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The wind increased when Wiliam Negri made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Delfim Sampaio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tarcisio Vargas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tarcisio Vargas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wiliam Negri, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Tarcisio Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wiliam Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Koehler during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 66th minute, Carlos Koehler got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Emparedado's Tarcisio Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Telmo Baptista in the 73rd minute of play. In the 74th minute, Carlos Koehler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luís Guilherme Negri during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 80th match minute, Emparedado was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Guilherme Negri to maneuver through the defense.
