Fernando Bastos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edgard Simões went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Betim MZC's Cássio Rossi got control of the ball when Emerson Souza tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 40th minute Cabo Branco FC were awarded a corner. Cipriano Baptista went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Cabo Branco FC's Cipriano Baptista to fire away a dangerous shot which Cássio Rossi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Cabo Branco FC's Fernando Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Válbson Saldanha in the 45th minute of play. Fernando Bastos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgard Simões, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Válbson Saldanha to make the kick off. Válbson Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Bastos having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Paul Bocșan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adalberto Sá during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Edgard Simões took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Fernando Bastos to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to Cabo Branco FC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Waldemar Mazza hit a great ball. If Válbson Saldanha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paul Bocșan in the 86th minute of play forced Betim MZC's goalkeeper Cássio Rossi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Válbson Saldanha came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Betim MZC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Válbson Saldanha couldn't finish the play. If Julio Soin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 96th minute, Felipe Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Betim MZC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
