The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thiago Paulista during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 16 played minutes Praia Clube got a freekick which was hit by Thiago Paulista. Sandro Senna succeeded in the game's 17th minute to get real power on a long shot . Praia Clube's Sérgio Bastos hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 0-2! In the 23rd minute, Belmiro de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ruy Prestes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erasmo Tande in the 25th minute. Ruy Prestes was out of position in the 25 minute of play, and Erasmo Tande capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Erasmo Tande really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Sérgio Bastos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fiori Guedes in the 34th minute of play. If Fiori Guedes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. Sérgio Bastos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fiori Guedes to make the kick off. Edvaldo Vander in the 53rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Sérgio Bastos, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After having played for 55 minutes, Luís Gustavo Zanette managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cambaras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Gustavo Zanette was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
