After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Jeferson Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ladario's supporters rose to their feet, but Jeferson Moura was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enio Montenegro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With 17 minutes on the clock, Caetano Leme commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 19th minute, Wanderson Fontes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Santelmo FC's Flávio dos Santos got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Enio Motta helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ladario booed when Santelmo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jeferson Moura was the one to do the kick off. If Dieguinho Sabóia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Santelmo FC's Enio Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeferson Moura in the 76th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Santelmo FC's Reinaldo Ferreira threw himself towards the right post 84 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Nilson Arantes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Tony Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reinaldo Ferreira having to interfere. Ladario were victorious despite being under pressure from Santelmo FC for much of the match.
