But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nico Gaspar couldn't finish the play. 22 minutes into the match, Santelmo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aloísio de Sena came free, but Enio Montenegro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nico Gaspar hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. After 34 minutes, Chico Motta made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Quixelo AD's Ronaldo da Rocha tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ronaldo da Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson Arantes in the 38th minute of play. When Chico Motta came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Santelmo FC fans jumped to their feet. With an all-out effort, Quixelo AD's Enio Montenegro threw himself towards the right post 45 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Mathias Mandrak, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Enio Montenegro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aloísio de Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 48 minutes into the match, Santelmo FC's goalkeeper Enio Montenegro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nico Gaspar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aloísio de Sena made a kick off. During the 51st minute of the match Nico Gaspar completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nico Gaspar a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 52 played minutes Quixelo AD got a freekick which was hit by Nico Gaspar. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Chico Motta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santelmo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Chico Motta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronaldo da Rocha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 57th minute, Aloísio de Sena made a precise shot to the right of Enio Montenegro. Santelmo FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Chico Motta did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-2 to the left of a surprised Ronaldo da Rocha 73 minutes into the match. Enio Motta charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Enio Motta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Quixelo AD's Ronaldo da Rocha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Quixelo AD from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luciano Queiroz in the 89th minute of play forced Santelmo FC's goalkeeper Enio Montenegro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
