Spectators: 7000 (Terracing: 5400, Seating: 1550, VIP seats: 50) Cristiano Velasco started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jacinto de Amorim got free with Zézinho Messias in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 6th minute, Cristiano Velasco fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Zézinho Messias, passed just outside the right post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adriano Valadares in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alfredão de Lima saved Secura from getting behind. After 13 played minutes, Secura's Hudson Silveira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zézinho Messias came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Secura reached it. If Léo Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adriano Valadares in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfredão de Lima prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Adriano Valadares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Reinaldo de Sousa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacinto de Amorim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alfredão de Lima made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinaldo de Sousa in the 36th minute of play. When Botafogo Sport Club's Reinaldo de Sousa in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Secura's goalie prevented a goal. Adriano Valadares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Secura's zone, Juarês Coutinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfredão de Lima came out of the goal and Juarês Coutinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Reinaldo de Sousa to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Reinaldo de Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Botafogo Sport Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reinaldo de Sousa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ediberto de Toledo hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Botafogo Sport Club's Reinaldo de Sousa got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 65thth minute of the game Reinaldo de Sousa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Secura's Alfredão de Lima was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zézinho Messias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacinto de Amorim in the 72nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Jacinto de Amorim managed to get in a good position for a shot. Secura's supporters rose to their feet, but Jacinto de Amorim was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zézinho Messias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 76 minutes into the match, Botafogo Sport Club's goal looked a bit too open when Jacinto de Amorim came free, but Zézinho Messias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gil Senna during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Botafogo Sport Club fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! In the 81st minute there was a penalty for Secura. Ediberto de Toledo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Zézinho Messias. 1-0. Reinaldo de Sousa was extremely unlucky when he, in the 85th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 88th minute, Reinaldo de Sousa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jacinto de Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Zézinho Messias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adriano Valadares got free with Alfredão de Lima in the 99th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Botafogo Sport Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
