Santelmo FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Christian Corrêa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juan Dracena got free with Enio Montenegro in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 14 played minutes, Santelmo FC's Ernesto Pombal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Chiquinho Nogueira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Santelmo FC reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chico Motta in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chiquinho Nogueira saved Lion Azul FC from getting behind. In the 20th minute of the match Enio Motta shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chiquinho Nogueira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Chico Motta came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Santelmo FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chico Motta couldn't finish the play. In the 25th minute, Percy Pernambucano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lion Azul FC's Chiquinho Nogueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chico Motta in the 28th minute of play. In the 32nd minute Juan Dracena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enio Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute of the match Caetano Leme shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chiquinho Nogueira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Juan Dracena kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 38th minute of the match Caetano Leme sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chiquinho Nogueira skillfully saved the ball. Chiquinho Nogueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chico Motta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Chico Motta made a kick off. If Flávio dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute Percy Pernambucano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chiquinho Nogueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 69 minutes into the game, Santelmo FC's Chico Motta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Chiquinho Nogueira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Chico Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chiquinho Nogueira made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Chico Motta sent off a good shot on target. A hard shot 79 in the game by Chico Motta from a close distance when the talented Chiquinho Nogueira managed to make a qualified save. Lion Azul FC's players were relieved. Enio Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeca Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Flávio dos Santos took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Chiquinho Nogueira to make any attempt to save it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chico Motta in the 94th minute of play forced Lion Azul FC's goalkeeper Chiquinho Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Enio Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Corrêa in the 96th minute of play. The Santelmo FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
