Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Rogério Sarmento got the match started through his kick off. In the 3rd minute, Reinaldo de Sousa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 5 minutes into the match, Botafogo Sport Club's goal looked a bit too open when Durval Sena came free, but Zézinho Messias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Rockbol booed when Botafogo Sport Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Rosado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zézinho Messias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogério Sarmento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adriano Valadares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Matías Chaves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Rogério Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rockbol's supporters rose to their feet, but Rogério Sarmento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zézinho Messias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Durval Sena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 43 minutes of play, Rockbol's Rogério Sarmento made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zézinho Messias was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reinaldo de Sousa to make the kick off. Rogério Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zézinho Messias having to interfere. Zézinho Messias made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Durval Sena sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Botafogo Sport Club getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Denílson Zanette hit a great ball. When Botafogo Sport Club's Reinaldo de Sousa in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Rogério Sarmento might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zézinho Messias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rogério Sarmento ran back to his position shaking his head. Zézinho Messias was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Durval Sena capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Durval Sena really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. The crowd rose to their feet as Rockbol's Rogério Sarmento slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Zézinho Messias. That made the score 0-5 after 76 minutes of play. 79 minutes into the match, Botafogo Sport Club's goalkeeper Zézinho Messias had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Durval Sena. After 83rd play minutes Durval Sena shot 0-6, a short shot which went by Zézinho Messias and just under the crossbar into goal. Botafogo Sport Club's Zézinho Messias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogério Sarmento in the 89th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rogério Sarmento in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zézinho Messias prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rockbol played a much better game than Botafogo Sport Club and deserved their victory. The Botafogo Sport Club players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
