Agostinho Schmidt charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Agostinho Schmidt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 31 minutes, Benjamin Gerber mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Botafogo BA and the Maroins EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Charles Marinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Mello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the match, Botafogo BA's goal looked a bit too open when Leandro Mello came free, but Charles Marinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Maroins EC's goalkeeper Romeu Dionísio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adelino Loureiro. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Adelino Loureiro put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Romeu Dionísio. Adelino Loureiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Botafogo BA's Adelino Loureiro got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When Leandro Mello got free in front of the goal in the 53rd minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Charles Marinho was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 55th minute, Adelino Loureiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Botafogo BA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Adelino Loureiro scored 4-0 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Romeu Dionísio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Adelino Loureiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Romeu Dionísio was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Romeu Dionísio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agostinho Schmidt in the 67th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adelino Loureiro in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Romeu Dionísio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Agostinho Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Romeu Dionísio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Botafogo BA's Gabriel Melo got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Agostinho Schmidt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeu Dionísio having to interfere. If Agostinho Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute Adelino Loureiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeu Dionísio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There was no doubt that Botafogo BA were the better team. Botafogo BA's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
