With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Curcio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With an all-out effort, Star Sports Clube's Luizão Sousa threw himself towards the right post 46 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luizinho Ribeiro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Carlos Curcio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Donato Arce went, in the 48th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Chicão Zanette made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Donato Arce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jaraguá Fc's supporters rose to their feet, but Donato Arce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Curcio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 55 played minutes Star Sports Clube got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Carioca. Carlos Curcio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donato Arce, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Curcio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulão Berger in the 67th minute. Donato Arce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Curcio having to interfere. If Chicão Zanette had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd minute, Chicão Zanette hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 86 minutes into the game, Chicão Zanette cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Luizão Sousa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Leonel Carioca fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Star Sports Clube's protests and gave Leonel Carioca a yellow card for diving instead. After 91 played minutes Star Sports Clube got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Carioca. Chicão Zanette might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luizão Sousa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Chicão Zanette ran back to his position shaking his head. Jaraguá Fc's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
