When Eurico Almeida fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paulas's protests and gave Eurico Almeida a yellow card for diving instead. In the 16th minute, Eurico Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute, Cristiano Moreira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Natanael Rosado was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 23 minutes into the match, Paulas's goal looked a bit too open when Agnaldo Vaz came free, but Natanael Rosado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mathias Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laerte Passos, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. After 26 played minutes Itirussu FC got a freekick which was hit by Amílton Massa. 31 minutes into the game, one of Paulas:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 32 minutes, Itirussu FC's Serafim Urbano got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Natanael Rosado. 40 minutes into the match, Itirussu FC's goal looked a bit too open when Filipe Furlan came free, but Mathias Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Laerte Passos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Itirussu FC booed when Paulas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eurico Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Mathias Cavalcante came out of the goal and Filipe Furlan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulas's Laerte Passos got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mathias Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eurico Almeida in the 64th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Amílton Massa during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 64th minute, Amílton Massa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Laerte Passos got free with Mathias Cavalcante in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
