Arnaldo Barross short, quick shot in the 24thth minute got Mathias Cavalcante to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Mathias Cavalcante made an important save on a dangerous shot by Victor Carioca in the 26th minute. Itirussu FC's Mathias Cavalcante proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Itirussu FC from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Botafogo Star Clube getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Wiliam Recife hit a great ball. 79 minutes into the game, Cristiano Moreira recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Simão Queiroz. Cristiano Moreira showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-2. Itirussu FC's Agnaldo Vaz got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. André Luís Lira charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed André Luís Lira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 91st match minute, Itirussu FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Luís Lira to maneuver through the defense. 92 minutes into the match, Itirussu FC's goal looked a bit too open when Adelino Freire came free, but Mathias Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Botafogo Star Clube fans cheered their team off the field, for while Itirussu FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
