In the 5th minute, Giovani Diniz fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The supporters of Formosa booed when GPORT F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caetano Britto didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Souto in the 12th minute of play forced GPORT F.C's goalkeeper Jorginho Baiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dráuzio Ceresso in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jorginho Baiano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Walmir Damião hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 16th minute of the match Igor Braga sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jorginho Baiano skillfully saved the ball. Formosa's Celso Souto got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 20 played minutes, Formosa's Gugu Leal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jorginho Baiano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Formosa reached it. Bernardo Ramalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Gláuber Miranda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dráuzio Ceresso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Jorginho Baiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Formosa getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Gugu Leal hit a great ball. In the 43rd minute Alexsandro Vinhas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorginho Baiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dráuzio Ceresso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Dráuzio Ceresso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Celso Souto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Giovani Diniz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gláuber Miranda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giovani Diniz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jorginho Baiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Souto in the 58th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Formosa's zone, Bernardo Ramalho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gláuber Miranda came out of the goal and Bernardo Ramalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jorginho Baiano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dráuzio Ceresso in the 66th minute. When Formosa's Celso Souto in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye GPORT F.C's goalie prevented a goal. Celso Souto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Baiano having to interfere. In the 80th minute Dedé Meira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gláuber Miranda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gláuber Miranda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giovani Diniz in the 81st minute of the match. After having played for 82 minutes, Bernardo Ramalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GPORT F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardo Ramalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of GPORT F.C booed when Formosa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cipriano Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. GPORT F.C were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after Formosa's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Caetano Britto took the corner. In the 89th minute of the match GPORT F.C got a corner. Formosa's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Caetano Britto ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Caetano Britto almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Formosa's Gláuber Miranda did a great save. If Celso Souto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. GPORT F.C had won after a very even match.
