Igor Arce hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. A collision led to Metropolitano SC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Baianos FC's Raphael Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 29th minute Raphael Gaúcho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Luiz Matorin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 33rd minute Jano Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adelino Moreno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Baianos FC's Adelino Moreno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jano Cunha in the 34th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raphael Gaúcho got free with André Luiz Matorin in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Metropolitano SC's goalkeeper André Luiz Matorin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Antônio Britto came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Baianos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antônio Britto couldn't finish the play. Baianos FC's Raphael Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luiz Medeiros charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luiz Medeiros the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Metropolitano SC booed when Baianos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Léo Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Agostinho Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot. Metropolitano SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Agostinho Vander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adelino Moreno breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
