Léo Soares's late challenge caught a BANZAI TIMAO FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Léo Soares helped the player get up and apologised. Adelino Moreno acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 19th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Vitório Travassos. Adelino Moreno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuca Trancoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Baianos FC's Adelino Moreno proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Baianos FC from getting a goal against them. Eliézer Brodel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raphael Gaúcho's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute, Raphael Gaúcho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eliézer Brodel was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Antônio Britto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Eliézer Brodel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Baianos FC's Raphael Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Raphael Gaúcho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eliézer Brodel having to make a save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Raphael Gaúcho to make the kick off. Dedê Vergílio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliézer Brodel having to interfere. After 54 minutes, Antônio Britto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Baianos FC and the BANZAI TIMAO FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 54 played minutes Baianos FC got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Britto. When Zé Paulo Secco came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the BANZAI TIMAO FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Paulo Secco couldn't finish the play. 56 minutes into the game, Samuca Trancoso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Adelino Moreno was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zé Paulo Secco scored 3-1 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Adelino Moreno, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eliézer Brodel came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by Baianos FC's Raphael Gaúcho. But to his dismay, Raphael Gaúcho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. After 86 minutes, Pedro Paulo Oliveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the BANZAI TIMAO FC and the Baianos FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Pedro Paulo Oliveira hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. 88 minutes into the match, Baianos FC's Raphael Gaúcho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eliézer Brodel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in BANZAI TIMAO FC's zone, Raphael Gaúcho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eliézer Brodel came out of the goal and Raphael Gaúcho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Many of Baianos FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Baianos FC may have spent more time on the ball, but BANZAI TIMAO FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
