Caverna dos Dragões's supporters rose to their feet, but Chicão Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oscar Lira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zé Carlos da Cunha in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oscar Lira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 10th minute Zé Carlos da Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Lira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 14 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Zé Carlos da Cunha sped through Veneciano's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Oscar Lira. The supporters of Veneciano booed when Caverna dos Dragões was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Juarês Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. Oscar Lira came out of the goal and Zé Carlos da Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 59 minutes into the match, Veneciano's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Carlos da Cunha came free, but Oscar Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Claudinei Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chicão Montenegro couldn't finish the play. Jorginho Nogueira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinei Alcântara in the 76th minute of the match. Jorginho Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juarês Simão in the 81st minute of play. If Chicão Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Veneciano's Samuel do Vale got a free kick in the 84th minute. Rafa Secco blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Oscar Lira having to make a save. Jorginho Nogueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juarês Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oscar Lira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Chicão Montenegro in the 92nd minute. In the 94th minute, Veneciano's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Chicão Montenegro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Claudinei Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorginho Nogueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudinei Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 99th minute. When the match was over Caverna dos Dragões could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Veneciano throughout the match.
