Spectators: 7217 (Terracing: 5414, Seating: 1660, VIP seats: 143) Juarês Simão started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juarês Simão in the 4th minute of play forced Águia Sport Club's goalkeeper Antônio de Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Águia Sport Club's Antônio de Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinei Alcântara in the 5th minute of play. In the 9thth minute of the game Pedro das Neves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Veneciano's Oscar Lira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, Veneciano's Oscar Lira got control of the ball when Ernesto Prestes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Antônio de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juarês Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Antônio de Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinei Alcântara in the 15th minute of the match. Águia Sport Club's Pedro das Neves got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuel do Vale during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Veneciano getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Samuel do Vale hit a great ball. If Ernesto Prestes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gil Carneiro hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Águia Sport Club's Samuel Carvalho pulled a muscle in his leg after 25 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The supporters of Águia Sport Club booed when Veneciano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel do Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Águia Sport Club's Gilmar Linares couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 27th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Veneciano. 30 minutes into the match, Veneciano's goalkeeper Oscar Lira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ernesto Prestes. After 32 minutes, Juarês Simão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Veneciano and the Águia Sport Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 32nd match minute, Veneciano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juarês Simão to maneuver through the defense. If Ernesto Prestes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Águia Sport Club's zone, Juarês Simão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antônio de Medeiros came out of the goal and Juarês Simão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 44th minute, Claudinei Alcântara ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Antônio de Medeiros was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ernesto Prestes was the one to do the kick off. Juarês Simão struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Antônio de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Veneciano. Claudinei Alcântara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Antônio de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Olavo Vargas fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Águia Sport Club's protests and gave Olavo Vargas a yellow card for diving instead. In the 59th minute, Olavo Vargas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 60 minutes of play, Veneciano's Claudinei Alcântara made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Antônio de Medeiros was left in no man's land by his defense there! Claudinei Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio de Medeiros having to interfere. Claudinei Alcântara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Antônio de Medeiros made a huge save. 72 minutes into the match, Veneciano's goal looked a bit too open when Ernesto Prestes came free, but Oscar Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Águia Sport Club's goalkeeper Antônio de Medeiros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Claudinei Alcântara. If Claudinei Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Veneciano's Oscar Lira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Prestes in the 83rd minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Veneciano's Aloísio de Sousa broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Claudinei Alcântara's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Antônio de Medeiros firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the final whistle sounded Veneciano left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Águia Sport Club.
