Spectators: 7295 (Terracing: 5473, Seating: 1677, VIP seats: 145) When Claudinei Alcântara came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Veneciano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudinei Alcântara couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Carvalhos booed when Veneciano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel do Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amauri Secco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Lira having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Veneciano's zone, Enio Tande stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oscar Lira came out of the goal and Enio Tande tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Douglas Dante during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Carvalhos's Douglas Dante got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Amauri Secco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Oscar Lira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Enio Tande ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Oscar Lira was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Claudinei Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nando Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Oscar Lira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd match minute, Veneciano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gil Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. 43 minutes into the game, Claudinei Neto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carvalhos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Veneciano the free kick. After 43 played minutes Carvalhos got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei Neto. After the first half Carvalhos were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Natã Mangueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juarês Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amauri Secco might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Oscar Lira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Amauri Secco ran back to his position shaking his head. Oscar Lira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amauri Secco in the 60th minute of play. After some careless play in the Veneciano defense, Nando Toledo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oscar Lira. The Veneciano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oscar Lira should have stopped the shot. 68 minutes into the game, Carvalhos's Nando Toledo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Oscar Lira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 74 minutes into the game, Juarês Simão cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Natã Mangueira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 78 minutes into the match, Veneciano's goalkeeper Oscar Lira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nando Toledo. In the 79th minute of the match Carvalhos got a corner. Veneciano's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nando Toledo ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Enio Tande got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Oscar Lira quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 81st match minute, Carvalhos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maicon Neto to maneuver through the defense. Enio Tande recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Samuel do Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Carvalhos's goal looked a bit too open when Juarês Simão came free, but Natã Mangueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Carvalhos left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Veneciano.
