Geovanni Bastos made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Cido Maranhense sent off a good shot on target. Zé Paulo Esteves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flávio Terra in the 17th minute of play. Vasco da Gama's Zé Paulo Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flávio Terra in the 18th minute of play. In the 19th minute Claudinho Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Paulo Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Master Team AD booed when Vasco da Gama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eurico Trigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geovanni Bastos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wiliam Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Vasco da Gama's Zé Paulo Esteves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Vasco da Gama from getting a goal against them. The Vasco da Gama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zé Paulo Esteves should have stopped the shot. Geovanni Bastos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vasco da Gama were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
