Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wiliam Souza in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erivaldo Sergipano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cido Maranhense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erivaldo Sergipano having to interfere. Wiliam Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cláudio Meira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Erivaldo Sergipano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dunas SC's Erivaldo Sergipano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wiliam Souza in the 46th minute of play. Cido Maranhense scored 1-2 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Erivaldo Sergipano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Tiago Saldanha made the kick off in the second half. Murilo Mineiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Zé Paulo Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 58 played minutes Dunas SC got a freekick which was hit by Betinho Sá. Cláudio Meira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erivaldo Sergipano having to interfere. When Murilo Mineiro fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dunas SC's protests and gave Murilo Mineiro a yellow card for diving instead. After 61 played minutes Dunas SC got a freekick which was hit by Murilo Mineiro. Vasco da Gama's Wiliam Souza got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wiliam Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Erivaldo Sergipano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Vasco da Gama's Wiliam Souza in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cido Maranhense could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Erivaldo Sergipano made a huge save. In the 86th minute Cido Maranhense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erivaldo Sergipano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dunas SC's goalkeeper Erivaldo Sergipano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Erivaldo Sergipano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cido Maranhense in the 89th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, Wiliam Souza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erivaldo Sergipano was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. If Arthur Jacinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vasco da Gama's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
