Ademir Mello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcel Leal, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After 14 played minutes Oberica got a freekick which was hit by Giuseppe Rocha. Atlético Salvador's Valdir Neves couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 15th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Oberica. After having played for 17 minutes, Marcel Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcel Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Breno de Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Atlético Salvador's Dudu Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Mineiro in the 22nd minute of play. Abel Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 32 minutes into the game, Oberica's Abel Mineiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dudu Toledo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Oberica's Ademir Mello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Leal in the 38th minute of play. Abel Mineiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Dudu Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Oberica's zone, Breno de Sousa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ademir Mello came out of the goal and Breno de Sousa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Atlético Salvador players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Oberica were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abel de Brito to make the kick off. In the 55th minute, Marcel Leal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ademir Mello was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After 64 minutes of play, Atlético Salvador's Marcel Leal made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ademir Mello was left in no man's land by his defense there! Breno de Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Ademir Mello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Atlético Salvador booed when Oberica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giuseppe Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute Marcel Leal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ademir Mello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dudu Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel de Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Abel de Brito's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dudu Toledo was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Abel Mineiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Dudu Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
