The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Pilares booed when Tucunupi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Paulo Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rafinha Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gildo Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Sandrinho Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 22 minutes into the match, Pilares's goal looked a bit too open when Antônio Carlos Pombal came free, but Sandrinho Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rafinha Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 30 minutes, Dagoberto Moreira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pilares and the Tucunupi FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 30 played minutes Pilares got a freekick which was hit by Dagoberto Moreira. Tucunupi FC's Juan Alcântara couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 31st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Pilares. Antônio Carlos Pombal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pilares's Dagoberto Moreira got his second yellow card of the match in the 37th minute. The referee ordered Dagoberto Moreira off the ground. In the 37th match minute, Pilares was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dagoberto Moreira to maneuver through the defense. Gildo Cardoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandrinho Rocha having to interfere. Sandrinho Rocha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júnior Furlan in the 57th minute of play forced Pilares's goalkeeper Sandrinho Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sandrinho Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Pombal, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Rafinha Magalhães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Válbson Capixaba fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tucunupi FC's protests and gave Válbson Capixaba a yellow card for diving instead. Válbson Capixaba kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Edgar Cavalcante's late challenge caught a Tucunupi FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edgar Cavalcante helped the player get up and apologised. Edgar Cavalcante hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. When Antônio Carlos Pombal came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Tucunupi FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antônio Carlos Pombal couldn't finish the play. Antônio Carlos Pombal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandrinho Rocha having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Pilares's Dé Pombal got a free kick in the 94th minute. Gildo Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
