Victor Simões showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manfredo Loureiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. If Manfredo Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, Dragão Carioca FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldinho do Nascimento came free, but Victor Simões reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Victor Simões took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfredo Loureiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vágner Bezerra to strike the kick off in the second half. Victor Simões was a little too slow when Ronaldinho do Nascimento got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 1-1. Válter de Salles might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Genílson Ribeiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Válter de Salles ran back to his position shaking his head. Dragão Carioca FC's Válter de Salles got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Victor Simões showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldinho do Nascimento in the 69th minute of the match. Victor Simões made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldinho do Nascimento in the 75th minute of play. When Jonathan Camargo fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dragão Carioca FC's protests and gave Jonathan Camargo a yellow card for diving instead. Jonathan Camargo kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Dragão Carioca FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Lino Guerra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Genílson Ribeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dragão Carioca FC's Jonathan Camargo got his second yellow card of the match in the 91st minute. The referee ordered Jonathan Camargo off the ground. In the 92nd minute, Jonathan Camargo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
