Eliézer Gonçalves helped the player get up and apologised. Cipriano Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Renato Galvão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Chapadas FC's zone, Cipriano Tavares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cipriano Tavaress short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Renato Galvão to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpected shot in the 29th minute by Cipriano Tavares got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Cipriano Tavares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Renato Galvão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Cipriano Tavares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renato Galvão having to interfere. Cipriano Tavares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Chapadas FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 41st minute, when Cipriano Tavares scored to the left of an out of position Renato Galvão, making the score, 1-0. Cipriano Tavares might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Renato Galvão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cipriano Tavares ran back to his position shaking his head. Cipriano Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Renato Galvão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hortêncio da Fonseca to make the kick off. In the 66thth minute of the game Cipriano Tavares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chapadas FC's Renato Galvão was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Chapadas FC's Dalmo Vasconcelos got a free kick in the 69th minute. Internacional's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cipriano Tavares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Renato Galvão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cipriano Tavares in the 94th minute of play. After 96 minutes, Antônio Carlos Meira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Internacional and the Chapadas FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Antônio Carlos Meira kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. After having played for 100 minutes, Cipriano Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Internacional's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cipriano Tavares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee ended the match the Internacional players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
