An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Tavares in the 47th minute of play forced Gutierri FC's goalkeeper Jonas Arantes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 47 minutes of play Gutierri FC's Edu Proença was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Edu Proença kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Raphael Lago to make the kick off. Nilton Cearense hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After 56 played minutes Internacional got a freekick which was hit by Rafa de Souza. After a rather tough play, Gutierri FC's Eriberto Jacinto got a free kick in the 62nd minute. After having played for 64 minutes, Cipriano Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Internacional's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cipriano Tavares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cipriano Tavaress short, quick shot in the 84thth minute got Jonas Arantes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jonas Arantes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cipriano Tavares in the 88th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raphael Lago in the 92nd minute of play forced Internacional's goalkeeper Nelsinho Ramalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Cipriano Tavares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonas Arantes was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Cipriano Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot.
