The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 7 minutes into the match, Chapadas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luizinho Loureiro came free, but Renato Galvão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Cristiano Moura put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Renato Galvão. After 15 played minutes Massambara got a freekick which was hit by Cristiano Moura. Hortêncio da Fonseca struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Duda Almeida didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chapadas FC. Renato Galvão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luizinho Loureiro's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. The corner led Massambara's Telmo Vargas to fire away a dangerous shot which Renato Galvão despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Massambara's Luizinho Loureiro in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 33rd minute Cristiano Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Galvão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Massambara's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Hortêncio da Fonseca 35 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Duda Almeida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hortêncio da Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hortêncio da Fonseca to make the kick off. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 56th minute, but Renato Galvão got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Chapadas FC hanging dry this time. In the 68th minute, Luizinho Loureiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Renato Galvão was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Massambara's Duda Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hortêncio da Fonseca in the 73rd minute of play. Emílio de Andrade's late challenge caught a Massambara's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emílio de Andrade helped the player get up and apologised. In the 77th minute, Emílio de Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bruninho Prata hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Renato Galvão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Moura in the 88th minute of the match. If Luizinho Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the match, Massambara's goal looked a bit too open when Hortêncio da Fonseca came free, but Duda Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 96 minutes, Cristiano Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Massambara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristiano Moura was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
