Lapa's supporters rose to their feet, but Edu Marquez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kaká Capixaba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot 6 in the game by Carlos Cabral from a close distance when the talented Kaká Capixaba managed to make a qualified save. Vila Barros City's players were relieved. If Carlos Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edu Marquez scored 1-0 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kaká Capixaba, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. José Pedro Cardozo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kaká Capixaba came out and tried to block the shot, but José Pedro Cardozo slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 15th minute. Lapa's Carlos Cabral got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Carlos Cabral came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Lapa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Cabral couldn't finish the play. In the 35th minute Eugênio Neto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sérgio Urbano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Cabral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Kaká Capixaba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Cabral struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Kaká Capixaba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lapa. In the 46th minute, Giuseppe Munhoz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eugênio Neto was the one to do the kick off. Kaká Capixaba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Cabral in the 53rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Cabral in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kaká Capixaba prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Carlos Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dorival Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaká Capixaba having to interfere. With a little luck, Lapa's Sérgio Urbano got control of the ball when Giuseppe Munhoz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rodriguinho Queirós's late challenge caught a Lapa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodriguinho Queirós helped the player get up and apologised. After 73 played minutes Vila Barros City got a freekick which was hit by Rodriguinho Queirós. The audience was convinced that Carlos Cabral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kaká Capixaba was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Kaká Capixaba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Pedro Cardozo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
