In the 8thth minute of the game Washington Senna who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Itapiruna SC's Patrick Souza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Itapiruna SC's goal looked a bit too open when Washington Senna came free, but Patrick Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Paulo Maranhense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 19 minutes into the game, Beto Bezerra was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Expressinho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itapiruna SC the free kick. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Expressinho's goalkeeper Isaltino Pernambucano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Expressinho's Isaltino Pernambucano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Paulo Maranhense in the 29th minute of play. Patrick Souza came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Expressinho's Washington Senna. But to his dismay, Washington Senna quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Itapiruna SC's Patrick Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erivaldo Abraão in the 35th minute of play. When Horácio Reis came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Itapiruna SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horácio Reis couldn't finish the play. Itapiruna SC's José Paulo Maranhense got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Didi Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Souza having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

After a defensive mix-up in Itapiruna SC's zone, Washington Senna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Souza came out of the goal and Washington Senna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
