Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Waldemar Perez to make the kick off. Dráusio Fernandez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 53rd minute Breno Marquez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wanderson Freire saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Breno Marquez might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wanderson Freire. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Breno Marquez ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giuseppe Prata in the 66th minute of play forced S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA's goalkeeper Vito Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 74 minutes into the match, S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA's goal looked a bit too open when Raimundo Sá came free, but Vito Saldanha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of SaoPauloFC booed when S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Roberto Schmidt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
