The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Donato da Costa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ulisses Trancoso in the 3rd minute. If Ulisses Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 9th minute, Beto Trigo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Donato da Costa. The goal made the score 1-0. Rodolfo Teles hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Marcos Vidal's late challenge caught a Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcos Vidal helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Black Star Wings's Marcos Vidal got a free kick in the 15th minute. It was beautiful to see Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha's Giovani Araújo in action when he in the 16th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! 18 minutes into the game, Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha's Dráusio Capixaba nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Beto Damião made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Dráusio Capixaba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ulisses Trancoso's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 29thth minute, Donato da Costa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha's Dráusio Capixaba got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 34th minute, Dráusio Capixaba got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Ricardo do Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 39 minutes, Giovani Araújo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha and the Black Star Wings players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Black Star Wings booed when Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giovani Araújo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute, Laerte Pimenta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Ricardo do Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardo do Vale was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Beto Damião breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dráusio Capixaba to make the kick off. After having played for 57 minutes, Beto Trigo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Black Star Wings's supporters crossed their fingers, but Beto Trigo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 58th minute, one of Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha. In the 60th minute, Marcos Vidal made a precise shot to the right of Donato da Costa. Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. 64 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha's goal looked a bit too open when Ulisses Trancoso came free, but Donato da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute, Beto Trigo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Falcão Negri hit a great ball. Marcos Vidal, 70 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a rather tough play, Black Star Wings's Marcos Vidal got a free kick in the 73rd minute. 76 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro de Cachoeirinha's goal looked a bit too open when Beto Trigo came free, but Donato da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute, Ulisses Trancoso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Donato da Costa was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Donato da Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Beto Trigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. When Ulisses Trancoso came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Black Star Wings fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulisses Trancoso couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elder da Rocha during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 83rd minute, Elder da Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Ricardo do Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th match minute, Black Star Wings was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sérgio Pontes to maneuver through the defense. Sydney Valladares was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 91st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Beto Trigo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Donato da Costa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Ulisses Trancoso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Star Wings's supporters rose to their feet, but Ulisses Trancoso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donato da Costa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 99th minute by Ricardo do Vale got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.
