When Gerson Maranhense came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerson Maranhense couldn't finish the play. After having played for 10 minutes, Waldemar Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Waldemar Perez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Régis Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Breno Marquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 12thth minute of the game Waldemar Perez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Itaguacu SC's Régis Barros was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Waldemar Perez in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Régis Barros prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 17 minutes into the game, Gerson Maranhense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itaguacu SC the free kick. After 17 played minutes S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA got a freekick which was hit by Gerson Maranhense. Régis Barros came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA's Breno Marquez. But to his dismay, Breno Marquez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 22nd minute, Sidney Ferreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Régis Barros didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Breno Marquez went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Dieguinho Garcia took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 34th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Régis Barros. Itaguacu SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Norberto Porto during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA booed when Itaguacu SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Norberto Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Sidney Ferreira made the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 51 minutes, Gerson Maranhense took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Régis Barros to make any attempt to save it. In the 54th minute, Gerson Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vito Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Ferreira in the 56th minute of play. Régis Barros made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Waldemar Perez sent off a good shot on target. 58 minutes into the game, Emanuel Vasconcelos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itaguacu SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA the free kick. A collision led to Itaguacu SC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Emanuel Vasconcelos hit a great ball. Régis Barros was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dráusio Fernandez showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 62 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dráusio Fernandez got free with Régis Barros in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Rocha took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Régis Barros. Itaguacu SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Gerson Maranhense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Breno Marquez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle sounded S C CORINTHIANS PAULISTA left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Itaguacu SC.
