Afonso Vasconcelos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Arce in the 4th minute of the match. Afonso Vasconcelos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marquinhos Veiga in the 6th minute. 10 minutes into the match, Eagles AC's Raimundo Arce sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Afonso Vasconcelos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Reginaldo Trevisan hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. After having played for 14 minutes, Marquinhos Veiga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Eagles AC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marquinhos Veiga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 15 played minutes Calamar got a freekick which was hit by Reginaldo Trevisan. Marquinhos Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 22 minutes, Eliézer Monteiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eagles AC and the Calamar players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 26th minute, Thiago Velloso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Calamar fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Enio Mendonça's late challenge caught a Calamar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Enio Mendonça helped the player get up and apologised. In the 32nd match minute, Eagles AC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enio Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Calamar's Wesley de Senna tried to score from far away in the 33rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 36 minutes into the game, Calamar's Thiago Velloso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alessandro Nóbrega made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Alessandro Nóbrega made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thiago Velloso in the 41st minute of play. Thiago Velloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alessandro Nóbrega having to interfere. After the first half Calamar were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marquinhos Veiga was the one to do the kick off. Afonso Vasconcelos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marquinhos Veiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marquinhos Veiga in the 56th minute of play forced Calamar's goalkeeper Afonso Vasconcelos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thiago Velloso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Alessandro Nóbrega made a huge save. Thiago Velloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Alessandro Nóbrega tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Calamar getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Dedê Fernandez hit a great ball. Raimundo Arce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
